Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A full-time Special Education Teacher opportunity is available at an early childhood school in Rutland, VT, serving high school students with specialized educational needs. This contract position begins as soon as possible with potential for renewal, providing a dynamic role that combines classroom instruction and community-based job coaching.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individualized instruction and support to approximately five high school students with special education needs.
  • Collaborate closely with assigned 1:1 paraprofessionals to ensure tailored learning experiences.
  • Facilitate classroom learning during the first half of the school day, employing developmentally appropriate practices.
  • Support students in real-world job settings during the second half of the day by accompanying and assisting them in various community work environments.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of student progress and contribute to Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Communicate effectively with families, staff, and community partners to promote student success.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Vermont Special Education teaching certification.
  • Experience working with Pre-K to high school students in special education settings.
  • Strong skills in behavior management, individualized instruction, and community-based learning.
  • Ability to collaborate with paraeducators and external partners.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and adaptability skills.

Location: Rutland, VT Early Childhood School setting.

This position offers a unique blend of classroom teaching and community engagement, enhancing student independence and vocational skills. Immediate start date available with the option to renew the contract.
