For the first time in about 15 years Avenue Coin is hiring: Applicant must be able to pass a background security check. Optimally, applicant would have bank teller experience (cash handling proficiency) or similar, operate within a small team environment. Employee would receive training on buying gold, silver and platinum jewelry, dental gold, placer gold, sterling flatware sets and diamonds. Employee would also learn how to buy and sell tradable bullion products using the shop's proprietary pricing spreadsheet. We realize that it takes days and weeks to gain a level of mastery and familiarity. We absolutely expect to have a break-in training period. We are looking for a candidate who is able to learn new skills. We would discuss with the candidate the history and culture of the shop and develop a sense of our importance to the community that we serve. It is critical that the applicant has high personal standards for honesty, reliability, accuracy and trustworthiness. Avenue Coin has a 30+ year reputation for honest dealing. We serve and support more than fifty other dealer accounts. We rely on repeat business and word-of-mouth referrals. This is a high volume-high dollar, low margin type of business. Applicant must be able to interface with dealers and public in a friendly manner. Applicant would integrate with our existing staff to work as a team member, developing competence and projecting trust. Long term, the applicant will have opportunities to participate in rare coin dealing, a much more complex and challenging arena that becomes a long-term project. An interest in vintage coins and paper money is desirable. Starting salary? $57K annually with quarterly bonuses and frequent base pay increases for new hires who demonstrate competency and value to the company
